Meet the Mergies: Ryan Schwary

Welcome to another edition of “Meet the Mergies”, a content series that introduces you to the wonderful people who work at Merge.

In this edition, we’re putting the spotlight on Ryan Schwary, a Sales Development Rep (SDR) who works out of our NYC office.

Ryan is as bubbly and lovely as they come, and we can’t wait for you to get to know her.

1. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I like to explore different parts of what the city has to offer (museums, Broadway shows, concerts, restaurants, etc.). I also like to spend time with friends, practice my French (I’m learning at CouCou French, a school in Little Paris), and swim laps or practice yoga (yin yoga is my favorite style of yoga). 

2. Where were you working prior to Merge?

I was working at Oracle. I sat on their Business Development team, where I sold Oracle Cloud solutions (HCM, SCM, CX, ERP, EPM, etc.). Before that, I worked on the Business & Legal Affairs team for non-scripted films at Endeavor, a global sports and entertainment company.  

3. What attracted you to Merge?

There are a few reasons. 

I appreciated the value Merge’s product brought to the market. Building and managing integrations in-house is extremely difficult, and the other 3rd-party solutions weren’t (and aren’t) cutting it. 

I also wanted to work alongside a determined, strategic, and energetic team. From the interview process alone, I felt really confident that Mergies fit these character traits to a tee. 

And finally, I was also looking for an in-person experience at a thriving start-up. Taken together, I knew that this environment would not only help me learn and grow in my career but also allow me to build meaningful personal relationships. 

4. What does your typical day at Merge look like?

At a high level, I’m responsible for generating pipeline and building relationships with prospects. 

This involves looking through prospects’ websites to better understand how, if at all, unified APIs could benefit their product (based on the various integrations we provide and the use cases we support). 

Once I feel confident that a company can benefit from Merge’s Unified APIs, I look for the ideal customer profiles at these accounts on LinkedIn. And after identifying these individuals, I’ll reach out (typically through email). 

‍5. What do you like most about working at Merge?

I’m going to cheat and pick a few things.

I’m learning something new each and every day, as I get to work closely with engineers, product managers, and even our CEO and CTO, Shensi and Gil. I also deeply appreciate how bright, inspiring, and kind everyone here is. It’s truly an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable, set up for success, and energized by one another.

6. What keeps you excited about working here?

It’s the people I get to work with.

My fellow Mergies’ passion and drive is contagious! Also, while everyone here is extremely accomplished, they also manage to stay humble and kind. Case in point: I set up 1:1s with members of different teams all the time, and every single colleague has been super receptive to it. These 1:1s have been an incredible way to build relationships and receive career guidance and support.

Long story short: Merge is everything I hoped for and more!
