Merge lets you securely connect your agents to You.com and thousands of tools instantly

Available tools

search_web

Search live web and news results and return links with snippets; use getanswer for a single cited answer. Supports date, locale, domain, safesearch, knowledge, and extraction controls. Pass nextoffset as offset for the next page.

get_contents

Extract clean HTML or Markdown from one or more public web URLs. Set formats to control the returned content.

get_answer

Answer a factual web question quickly with citations (one hop); use runresearch for multi-step synthesis or searchweb for raw links. Supports freshness, locale, and domain controls. Set include_results=true only if you need the full web results considered.

run_research

Research a complex, multi-step question with cited sources; use getanswer for quick facts and runfinanceresearch for finance. Set background=true for long tasks (required for deep, exhaustive and frontier), then call getresearchtask, or listresearchevents for progress, with the taskid.

get_research_task

Get the status and final result of a background research task. Use the taskid returned by runresearch.

list_research_events

Read progress events for a background research task. Use the taskid returned by runresearch and fromid to resume. If truncated is true, call again with fromid=lastid. Terminal events have no id, so lastid may lag. For a finished task, use getresearchtask.

run_finance_research

Research a financial or company-filings question using You.com's finance index and return a cited answer; use run_research for other topics. Runs synchronously and stops waiting after 50 seconds, so prefer deep effort; exhaustive can take longer.

search_images

Search image results with titles, source page URLs, image URLs, and thumbnails. This You.com endpoint is in beta.

get_account_balance

Get remaining You.com API credits. The balance is returned in cents.

validate_credential

Check that the You.com API key is accepted. Uses the account balance endpoint; a key without billing access still passes.
