get_exchange_rate

Get the current exchange rate between two currencies, with bid and ask. Both fiat codes such as 'USD' and crypto codes such as 'BTC' are accepted, in either position. An unknown or misspelled code raises not-found. Costs one of the plan's daily requests.

get_company_overview

Get a company's profile and headline financial ratios for one ticker: sector, industry, market capitalisation, P/E, dividend yield and 60+ further metrics. Use search_symbols to find the ticker first. Only equities have a profile, so an ETF or currency raises not-found. Costs one of the plan's daily requests.

get_stock_quote

Get the latest price, volume and daily change for one ticker. Use this for a current price; use getdailytimeseries for history, and searchsymbols to find a ticker from a company name. Prices are end-of-day on the free plan. Costs one of the plan's daily requests. Raises not-found when the ticker does not exist.

get_daily_time_series

Get the daily open, high, low, close and volume history for one ticker, newest session first. Use this for trends and charts; use getstockquote for only the latest price. outputsize 'compact' returns 100 sessions on any plan, 'full' returns 25+ years and needs a paid plan. Costs one of the plan's daily requests.

search_symbols

Search Alpha Vantage's instrument directory by company name or partial ticker, and get back scored matches with their exchange and currency. Use this first when only a company name is known, then pass the symbol to getstockquote, getdailytimeseries or getcompany_overview. Alpha Vantage returns every match at once and has no paging. Costs one of the plan's daily requests.

validate_credential

Check that Alpha Vantage answers with usable market data for the stored API key. Reports false when no key is configured or the daily request allowance is spent. It cannot report false for a merely wrong key: Alpha Vantage does not check key values and serves data for any non-empty key. Costs one of the plan's 25 daily requests.
