Problem: Building HRIS integrations in-house would delay their product launch
Taito.ai is a performance enablement tool that helps business leaders and team leads manage their teams more strategically. The platform offers AI-powered coaching, feedback, and support across key processes, from establishing career paths to providing continuous feedback.
To enable their core users (team leads) to get the most out of their platform from the very beginning, Taito.ai needed to integrate with HRIS solutions.
“HRIS solutions offer the hierarchical data necessary to keep employee relationships accurate. They also store key milestone events, like start dates, new job titles, and probation periods. This helps trigger key feedback workflows in our product,” explains Juho Eräste, Taito.ai’s co-founder and CTO.
As the team had a tight timeline for launching their platform, they quickly decided that building HRIS integrations in-house wouldn’t make sense.
Juho adds more context:
“Each HRIS integration would take our engineers at least a week to implement. On top of that, many HRIS providers would force us to enter partnerships first, which would add several weeks to the process. Since we needed to support 70+ HRIS integrations from day one, we needed to use a 3rd-party.”
Juho and his team ended up evaluating several unified API solutions.
Juho explains why they went with Merge:
“We knew we’d eventually need to integrate with systems that extend beyond HRIS, such as project management platforms and CRMs. Merge offers more cross-category integration support than other unified API solutions, so they were the best option.”
Launching 70+ HRIS integrations in days with Merge’s Unified API
Taito.ai built to Merge’s HRIS Unified API within a few days, and were then able to offer 70+ HRIS integrations, including Workday, HiBob, and Personio.
Here’s how their HRIS integrations work:
1. A user would log in and select “Integrations.” From there, they could see the integrations that are available.

2. Once a user selects an HRIS, Merge Link, a UI component, appears. It provides all of the steps the user needs to take to authenticate the integration.

3. Once the connection is established, a wide range of employee data is initially synced, including employees’ first and last names, email addresses, job titles, departments, start and termination dates, and probation end dates. This data is then resynced every 24 hours.
Here are just a few of the workflows these HRIS integrations unlock:
- Onboarding/offboarding: New hires automatically receive invites to use Taito.ai on their start date; and they’re automatically deprovisioned from Taito.ai once they’re marked as terminated in the HRIS
- Cross-functional collaboration: Taito.ai automatically schedules a feedback survey for an employee when they work with a colleague and haven’t received feedback from them in a while

- Promotions: A few weeks after a user’s job title changes, Taito.ai triggers peer and manager feedback surveys to assess that employee’s performance in their new role
- Agentic workflows: Taito.ai’s recently-launched AI agent can leverage the HRIS integrations across its tasks. For example, a manager can ask for a summary of the feedback their direct reports received over the past 12 months. The agent can then analyze all of the feedback on their direct reports and produce a nicely-formatted breakdown across topic areas
