Merge has enabled our team to add integrations 10x faster. We’ve also been able to save our engineers hundreds of hours every year by adding integrations more efficiently and by using Merge to maintain them on our behalf.

Problem

Meeting millions of customers’ integration needs

Foxit, a leading digital document workflow platform, needed to expand its integration capabilities to include HRIS, ATS, and file storage.

The HRIS and ATS connectors enable users to auto-populate important documents in Foxit—from offer letters to termination documents. Meanwhile, the file storage integrations allow users to pull in any documents and send any that are executed back to the integrated file storage platform.

But the process of adding and maintaining these integrations in-house wasn’t sustainable.

Nake Sekander, Foxit’s VP of Product, adds more context:

“Foxit has hundreds of millions of users across regions, industries, and company sizes, which has led us to receive a wide range of integration requests. Meeting and keeping up with this demand simply wasn’t sustainable.”

After evaluating several options, they ultimately landed on Merge for several reasons.

“Merge offered all of the file storage, HRIS, and ATS integrations our customers needed. And after working with their team during a proof of concept, it was clear that their integrations and their team were best-in-class.”
Solution

Adding dozens of file storage, HRIS and ATS integrations within weeks

After taking a few weeks to build to Merge’s Unified API, they were able to bring 40+ HRIS, file storage, and ATS integrations to market. This includes applications like Google Drive, Box, SharePoint, Workday, Gusto, Lever, and Greenhouse.

Here’s how their integrations work:

1. An admin for an HRIS, file storage, or ATS application would log into Foxit and click on Connectors. From there, they can see all the connectors or integrations they can authenticate with.

2. Once they select “Connect” for a particular application, Merge Link, a UI component that’s embedded in Foxit, appears.

The user can follow the self-guided instructions to successfully authenticate the integration. And once they have, an initial sync gets triggered.

  • For file storage integrations: files, folders, and drives get pulled in and re-synced bidirectionally based on key events (e.g., a document gets executed) and at least every 24 hours
  • For ATS integrations: candidates’ names, applications, jobs, interview stages, offers, and more get added and re-synced at least every hour
  • For HRIS integrations: employees’ full names, departments, salaries, job titles, and more get pulled in and re-synced at least every 12 hours

Once these integrations are established, Foxit can automate seemingly any e-signature workflow for users.

For example, say a user wants to add an executed employee onboarding form to a particular folder in an integrated file storage application.

Here’s how they can set up the file storage integration, build the workflow within Foxit (assuming that an HRIS integration is also already established), and test the workflow:

Outcome

Offering enterprise-grade integrations for any customer

The process of adding 40+ integrations only took Foxit a matter of weeks. If they had to build these integrations in-house, it would have required their engineers to spend hundreds of additional hours and several more months, if not years.

Nake adds more insight:

“Merge has enabled our team to add integrations 10x faster. We’ve also been able to save our engineers hundreds of hours every year by adding integrations more efficiently and by using Merge to maintain them on our behalf.”

Another key value proposition of Merge’s integrations for Foxit has been their level of security. Nake calls out Merge’s Access Control Lists (ACLs) as being particularly valuable.

“Merge’s ACLs ensure that Foxit only displays documents and files to users who have the appropriate permissions in the underlying file storage system. This helps us prevent security incidents, comply with critical data privacy and protection regulations, and maintain trust across our customer base.”

Last but not least, the Foxit team has loved partnering with Merge’s post-sales team.

“Merge’s CSMs and solution architects are extremely responsive, knowledgeable of our integration use cases, and genuinely care about making us successful. Thanks to them, the process of adding and managing integrations has been super easy and smooth.”

So, what’s next in Foxit’s integration journey with Merge?

“We have two exciting products being released later this year, and Merge’s ERP and CRM integrations will play a critical role in supporting them. Stay tuned!”

We look forward to partnering with Foxit on these upcoming product launches.
